Anna’s Story
“Mom was at another memory care facility in Temple, Texas, but she just wasn’t getting the care she needed. My siblings and I were frustrated. After watching six Executive Directors come and go, we knew it was time to move her. A few of the other residents suggested we tour Mercy House, and I’m so glad we did! The staff is just so sweet and welcoming. I just knew from the moment we walked in and met the caregivers that Mom was going to be well cared for, so we moved her to Mercy House. It was an easy transition and we’ve never looked back.
Her disease is progressing, and her anxiety sets in later in the evening. Even so, her Hospice nurse tells me how sociable and talkative she is at night… and how much she loves participating in the activities. It’s almost like she’s a different person! It just validated that we made the right move. She’s happy. She’s not alone. And she’s well cared for. I’m so grateful to have found Mercy House.”

“Mom has Alzheimer’s, and it was getting really hard for my stepdad to care for her at home. Even with Visiting Angels coming 5 days a week, it just wasn’t enough. So my brother and I started researching memory care facilities in Temple, Texas.
“We toured nursing homes in the area, but we just didn’t like how sterile the environments were. One of the nursing homes suggested we tour Mercy House. As soon as we walked in, we both felt very comfortable. We engaged with the staff. We saw the living room atmosphere with the kitchen and bedrooms close by. It was a small footprint, on purpose. After talking extensively with the staff, my brother and I said, “We’re done looking! This is the place she needs to be.”
Mom has been in Mercy House 8 months now. She’s made several friends and the staff knows the names of our entire family. The doctors have even seen her health improve to the point that it was two years earlier because she’s being fed properly, getting her medications on time, participating in activities, and connecting with friends. In fact, we talk with Mom regularly over FaceTime — even more often than we did when she lived at home — and there’s hardly ever a time that we don’t also check in with her friends. It’s really a family atmosphere, and we see how happy she is. Now my brother and I can rest easy knowing our mom is happy and well cared for.”

Thea’s Story
“Mom’s dementia was progressing, and our family just couldn’t handle her at home anymore. Hospice would come in to help, but she was getting mean and throwing things. It was very painful for me. Things were just getting out of control. We needed help, so I sought professional memory care in Temple, Texas. I didn’t want her to live out her final days in a sterile hospital environment or a nursing home… I wanted her in a real home, surrounded 24/7 by loving caregivers that felt like an extension of our own family. I found all of that, and more, at Mercy House. They are such caring people. They gave her the loving care she needed in her final days and lifted the huge burden off me. They really rescued me. I’m so grateful I found Mercy House.”
